Gigabyte Launches G1.Sniper Z87 Motherboard
Gigabyte has launched the G1.Sniper Z87 motherboard. The board is targeted at gamers with its updated Killer E2200 networking platform. The board's VRM heatsink supports water cooling solutions. As a nod to audiophiles, the G1.Sniper Z87 supports removable operational amplifiers (op-amps) for a personalized audio experience.
The board features the Killer E2200, an "adaptive gigabit Ethernet controller that offers better online gaming and online media performance compared to standard solutions." This feature will appeal to gamers who need to minimize network latency during their online gaming bouts. The board supports swappable op-amps for a customizable audio experience. Although such a feature is common for amplifiers, to our knowledge, this feature may be a first for motherboards. To further enhance its audio experience, the board features the Creative Sound Core3D audio chip that offers dedicated hardware audio processing. It comes with the SoundBlaster software suite for further tweaking of its processing capabilities.
Gold-platting seems to be the rage now for certain PC components, and the G1.Sniper offers glided ports and connectors for enhanced conductivity and durability. Even the Creative Sound Core3D audio chip has a gold-plated EMF shield! The Gigabyte G1.Sniper was launched at the recently-concluded BlizzCon 2013.
