Gemini RE11 AC1200 Dual-Band Wi-Fi extender offers up to 867Mbps on 802.11ac

Gemini’s latest home Wi-Fi roaming kit is an ideal tool for residences with varied Wi-Fi needs across the compound. The Gemini RE11 AC1200 Dual-Band kit is a Wi-Fi extender that can also work as an access point or Wi-Fi bridge, and it facilitates intelligent Wi-Fi roaming by using a single SSID (network name) for all its units.

As the name implies, the Gemini RE11 AC1200 has a combined throughput of  nearly 1,200Mbps – it goes up to 300Mbps on the 2.4GHz band (802.11n), and up to 867Mbps on the 5GHz band (802.11ac). It uses a single SSID through mesh networking, making it easier for roaming devices to switch between Wi-Fi zones seamlessly. The RE11 is also capable of detecting Wi-Fi signal quality on behalf of your devices to maintain the best Wi-Fi signal possible.

If you’re using the RE11 in Access Point mode, there’s the option to “upgrade” your single 2.4GHz band, Wi-Fi 802.11n network into a dual-band configuration. After connecting the RE11 to your existing router, you can complete its configuration by using its browser-based iQ Setup wizard. The device can also work as a Wi-Fi bridge for wired devices, allowing them to be a part of the same wireless network.

Currently, the Gemini RE11 AC1200 has a March 2017 release in Singapore. It has a recommended retail price of S$279 for a starter kit (two units with some accessories). However, their official distributor intends to introduce the kit at S$199 as an IT Show 2017 promotion. A single unit has an RRP of S$129.
