A Future Windows 8.1 Update Will Bring Back the Start Menu

At Build 2014, Microsoft also found some time to tease some future updates (no, nothing on Windows 9). One that's slated to be in a future Windows 8.1 update (i.e., not in this first update) is the return of the familiar Start menu. Clearly an attempt to please long-time Windows users, Microsoft isn't going to backtrack on its push for Modern apps either, as this Start menu will also have Live Tiles embedded on the side.

This announcement is one of the examples how universal Modern-style Windows apps are able to run in a window in the desktop environment (as well as on the Xbox).
