Fujifilm X-Pro2 official images leaked: what it looks like next to the X-Pro1

Image source: Well, it’s kinda obvious where it’s from.

Fujifilm’s X-Pro1 mirrorless system camera was launched in 2012, and is long overdue for an update. Fuji Rumors has snagged what looks like official images of the X-Pro 2, which looks like it will be launching in 2016.

At first glance, the X-Pro2 looks quite similar to the X-Pro1, which follows Fujifilm’s design philosophy: Incremental changes when making sequels, and don’t fix what’s not broken. The big changes on the body seem to be:

  • A new joystick on the back body - perhaps for AF control, similar to the joysticks on professional DSLR bodies?
  • A combined shutter speed dial with a secondary dial (Fuji Rumors says it’s a combined shutter speed and ISO dial)
  • A new front dial

Fuji Rumors has these other possible specs:

  • A 24MP sensor
  • Dual SD card slots
  • More than 200 AF points (2/3 are phase-detection AF points)
  • Same hybrid viewfinder as X100T
  • 1/8000 shutter speed
  • 1/250 flash sync speed
  • No tilt LCD
  • ISO 200 - 12,800 range

In comparison, the existing X-Pro1’s specs are:

  • A 16MP sensor
  • Single SD card slot
  • 49 AF points (all contrast-detection)
  • Hybrid multi viewfinder (pre-X100T)
  • 1/4000 shutter speed
  • 1/180 flash sync speed
  • No tilt LCD
  • ISO 200 - 6,400 (100, 12,800 and 25,600 available in extended mode)

As with any rumors, they’re to be taken with a pinch of salt. But with official renders leaking and Magnum Photos accidentally outing a January 15 announcement, it looks like the X-Pro2 is very likely coming soon.
