Fujifilm announces new rangefinder style X-E3 with 24MP X-Trans sensor and 4K video

Fujifilm has just announced the X-E3, a slimmed down and more affordable rangefinder camera that sits between the X-Pro2 rangefinder flagship and the X-A10 entry-level camera.

The X-E3 comes with a 24.3MP X-Trans sensor, 4K video capture and 325 AF points with a new subject tracking algorithm that Fujifilm claims is better at tracking smaller and faster objects.

The back of the camera is surprisingly minimal, and that’s because the rear d-pad has been removed. Instead, the X-E3 relies on touchscreen controls, but it does gain an AF joystick for finer control over focus.

The X-E3 also comes with built-in WiFi, and Bluetooth low energy for constant connection to a smartphone.

Besides the X-E3, Fujifilm also announced two new lenses, a Fujinon XF80mmF2.8 LM OIS WR Macro for the X series, and a Fujinon GF45mmF2.8 R WR for Fujifilm’s medium format GFX 50S camera.

The X-E3 will be available in black and silver, while the local retail prices and launch dates have yet to be announced, the camera is launching in the US at the end of the month. The body only has an SRP of US$899.95, with the 18-55mm f/2.8-4 kit lens for US$1,299.95, or with the 23mm f/2 prime for US$1,149.95.

Update

As you can see from the image above, the X-E3 is up for pre-orders with a price of $1,499 body only, $1,899 with the XF23mm F2 R, or $2,099 with the XF18-55mm kit. There are also promotional gifts to be had if you pre-order now, so hurry if you're keen to get this camera!
