Fujifilm announces the launch of new X-T10 camera and a new XF90 mm lens

Fujifilm X-T10

The Fujifilm X-T10 is Fujifilm’s latest X-series digital camera and in many aspects, looks to be like a mini X-T1. Again featuring an APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor with built-in phase detection AF, the X-T10 offers a choice between the standard 49-point Single Point autofocus mode for high speed and precision, and the new Zone and Wide/Tracking modes for tracking a subject across a larger 77-point area.

Continuous shooting speed is up to 8.0 fps, and that’s matched with an electronic Real Time Viewfinder that has a 0.62x magnification ratio, high-definition 2.36 million dot organic EL electronic display, and the world’s shortest lag time of 0.005 seconds. The back panel is a 3.0” 920K-dot tilting LCD monitor that lets you take images from close to the ground or over head with ease, and the X-T10 follows the X-T1 in offering precision-milled aluminum dials for control over aperture, shutter speed, and shooting modes.

There’s a dedicated Auto Mode Switch lever for putting the camera into full automatic Advanced SR Auto mode, so you can hand the camera to anyone and still be assured they’ll get you good images. And each of the two command dials and seven function buttons can be fully customized so you can really personalize the camera. Also handy, is the pop-up Super Intelligent Flash that’s positioned in the center of the top plate, and automatically adjusts light output for the detected scene.
The X-T10 uses a larger APS-C sized sensor that has been optimized for light capture.

The APS-C sized X-Trans CMOS II sensor has been optimized for noise reduction at high sensitivities, allowing the camera to shoot up to ISO 51200, while Lens Modulation Optimizer (LMO) image processing technology uses a database of lens characteristics to correct for optical defects.

The X-T10 will come with all the autofocus enhancements that have recently been added to the X-T1, such as Single Point mode with phase detection from 2.5EV to 0.5EV, Eye Detection AF, Auto Macro function and improved AF action during video recording. It also has a completely silent electronic shutter that allows for exposures up to 1/32,000 seconds, and an interval timer shooting function that allows for time lapse photography at intervals of one second to 24 hours for up to 999 frames.

You'll also get the full set of Fujfilm's film simulation modes.

Take Full HD video at up to 60fps with the X-T10 and apply film simulation modes to your footage for greater creative effect. The X-T10 handles a high bit rate of up to 36Mbps, and pairs that with high-speed, high precision focusing by way of the Intelligent Hybrid AF mode, which switches between phase-detection AF and contrast-detection AF depending on the scene. You will also be able to adjust aperture, shutter and ISO during movie recording, allowing you full control over exposure.

Finally, there’s built-in Wi-Fi support for remote shooting from your smart device via Fujifilm’s free Camera Remote app, and Wi-Fi Transfer is also supported, allowing for wireless backup to a computer. Send your photos and videos direct to your smart device for easy sharing to social media, or add location information from your smart device to the images.

The X-T10 will be available at all major authorized Fujifilm retailers for S$1299 (body only),  S$1499 (with the XC16-50mm kit lens) or S$1799 (with the XF18-55mm kit lens) from 22 June.

Fujinon XF90F2 R LM WR

The XF90F2 R LM WR offers a 35mm field of view equivalent to a 137mm lens.

Also announced, is the XF90F2 R LM WR, which offers an 35mm equivalent focal length of 137mm, making it ideal for portraits and sports.

This prime lens features a design that consists of 11 elements in 8 groups, including three ED glass elements to minimize vignetting. The rounded diaphragm allows for beautiful bokeh, while the minimum focusing distance of 60cm allows for a wide range of shooting options. Autofocus is as fast as 0.14s thanks to the use of a newly developed Quad Linear Motor that uses four magnets for higher torque.

Weather, dust and freeze resistance is guaranteed thanks to the seven seals on the lens barrel that keep the lens protected when shooting outdoors. And the lens is rated to be able to go down to -10C, which means you should safely be able to use it in most parts of the world. The best part is that it weighs just 540g, hence making for an extremely portable travel solution.

The XF90F2 R LM WR will be available from at all major authorized Fujifilm retailers in end July, but pricing is yet to be advised.
