Foursquare Opens Up Search for Everyone

Foursquare, the app previously known as a location-based social network, has been shifting its emphasis over its last few iterations to a local social search engine for good picks. While you used to have to be a member to use Foursquare, the company has now opened up its search engine to anyone who wants to look for good food, shopping or sights and sound. Just head over to Foursquare.com and search for the goodies in your area.

Search results look sparse at the moment (we couldn't find any recommendations for good food near our office, which makes us sad pandas), but they improve once you log in or register and add your social networks to the mix. With the recent addition of Yelp.sg and old stables like Hungry Go Where it seems that Singaporeans now have more ways to satisfy our national past-time than ever before.
