SanDisk's latest portable SSDs and wireless storage, Extreme 900 (left), Connect Wireless Stick, and Extreme 500.

SanDisk proudly introduced us to their new storage solutions today, ranging from portable SSDs to wireless mobile flash drives, these devices are designed for photographers who require a wireless method for transferring their work from camera to storage, or for the casual smartphone user with the latest flagship models with no MicroSD card slot - like the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. If you think these products are up your alley, don't forget to pop by COMEX 2015 to grab them once they are out. Let's cut to the chase.

SanDisk Extreme 900 Portable SSD

SanDisk Extreme 900 Portable SSD.

As the name implies, these are portable SSDs. They are pretty extreme simply because these devices can store massive amounts of data in a compact form factor, and can play well with a variety of other devices with different USB requirements.

It comes with a USB Type-C port.

The Extreme 900 has an aluminum case that feels durable, and they are capable of transferring big files at speeds up to 850MB per second via USB Type-C cable, according to Sandisk's internal tests. Right out of the box, the Extreme 900 will come with a USB Type-C cable and a Type-C-to-A cable, allowing the portable SSD to work with devices of the past, present, and near future.

Being all extreme by showing off it's breakneck six second transfer of a 1GB file while the control demo unit rolled at 31 seconds.

SanDisk demonstrated the Extreme 900's monstrous transfer speeds by pitting it against a 7,200RPM hard drive with USB 2.0-only port. It ran five times faster than the control unit - at a blazing speed of approximately six seconds.

Make no mistake, for the branding is on it's back. Of course it's Made In China.

The SanDisk Extreme 900 series comes in different sizes: 480GB, 960GB, and 1.92TB, at a recommended retail price of S$769, S$1,149, S$1,899 respectively. These will be available by Q4 2015 in Singapore.

SanDisk Extreme 500 Portable SSD

SanDisk Extreme 500 Portable SSD. Also extreme.

These are no less extreme then their flagship counterparts because the Extreme 500 comes in an even smaller form factor; they are pocket sized storage spaces that can hold up to 480GB's worth of files.

Check out the little metal ring - you can use it to loop it to your belt or bag for the extreme dangling of precious data.

At approximately half the size of your flagship model smartphones, these SSDs are capable of transferring files at speeds up to 415MB per second using its USB 3.0 port. It comes in patterned black finish with rubber bumpers, and a little metal ring for that extra handsfree freedom - simply clip it to your belt or bag and you're ready to go.

This is how it looks like off the shelf.

The SanDisk Extreme 500 series comes in different storage sizes: 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB, at a recommended retail price of S$188, S$288, and S$499 respectively. They are available from September 2015 in Singapore.
