Facebook Reports 2012 Full Year Financial Results

Facebook has just reported on its Q4 2012 and also full year financial results, and the numbers are encouraging. While investors and analysts expected a 34% boost in revenue from the previous quarter at around $1.525 billion, with an Earnings Per Share of 15 cents; Facebook surpassed that revenue, coming in at $1.59 billion and an Earnings Per Share of 17 cents per share.

Interestingly, mobile revenue represented approximately 23% of advertising revenue for the fourth quarter of 2012, up from approximately 14% of advertising revenue in the third quarter of 2012. Both CEO Mark Zuckerberg and COO Sheryl Sandberg also reiterated the importance of mobile for the company, going as far as to declare that Facebook is a "mobile company".

If we were to look at the the entire year, Facebook ended the year with in excess of $5 billion in revenue and a net profit of around $53 million.

In addition, Facebook also shared some user statistics. As of 31 Dec 2012, Facebook has surpassed 1 billion monthly active users, an increase of 25% year-over-year. The number of daily active users was 618 million.
