Extend your Wi-Fi coverage to 12,000 sq ft with the Amped Wireless REC44M

Do you have a 12,000 square feet (sq ft) home that’s simply itching to get decent Wi-Fi coverage? No? It might still be a good idea to own a MU-MIMO, 802.11ac Wi-Fi range extender anyway, just to catch the dead corners in your house. The Amped Wireless REC44M is the solution we don’t necessarily need.

The Amped Wireless REC44M is an AC2600 Wi-Fi range extender with MU-MIMO support and massive 12,000 sq ft coverage. It supports one 2.4GHz band (at 800Mbps) and one 5GHz band (at 1733Mbps) simultaneously. The REC44M comes with internal 16 amplifiers: four 2.4GHz, four 5GHz, and eight other Low Noise amplifiers. The extender also supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi. You can independently control each frequency band’s coverage to suit your needs.

MU-MIMO support on the Amped Wireless REC44M allows the Wi-Fi extender to effectively support multiple devices at once, while maximizing the use of available bandwidth with fewer penalties to downlink transfer speeds across the board. Traditional SU-MIMO routers or extenders can still support multiple devices, but the quality of Wi-Fi will degrade as more Internet-reliant devices share the same access point.

So, how spacious is 12,000 sq ft? That’s the approximate size of the upcoming Victoria Secret flagship outlet that’s coming to Singapore in Q4 2016. Putting 10 units of five-room HDB flats together won’t bring you above 12,000 sq ft either.

It’s easy to see that the Amped Wireless AC2600 Range Extender was made for medium to large-sized offices, and the extensive coverage helps to minimize your Wi-Fi’s dead zones, while providing reliable Wi-Fi up-time for homes with multiple devices and IoT gadgets.

The Amped Wireless REC44M is available at US$169.99 (~S$228.27) on their official site, and it will expand its retail alternatives at a later date. You can learn more about the device here.
