Evernote Initiates System-wide Password Reset Amidst Security Breach
Yet another American IT company has fallen to the hands of hackers. Following in the footsteps of Apple and earlier Microsoft and Facebook, the latest victim this time is popular note-taking app Evernote. The firm has since released a notice over the weekend indicating that the company's database was breached and that preventive measures have been taken.
To begin, Evernote assured users that there's no evidence that users' notes were accessed nor changed. However, they found "that the individual(s) responsible were able to gain access to Evernote user information, which includes usernames, email addresses associated with Evernote accounts and encrypted passwords."
However, Evernote further assured that the the passwords stored are protected by one-way encryption. But even if their password encryption measures are robust, Evernote is issuing a system-wide password reset as an additional precaution.
Evernote users should check out the official release by the company and follow the steps to reset their passwords.
