Canon introduces yet another mirrorless camera – the EOS M100

Note: First published on 31st August 2017, we've since updated the story with local pricing, changes to the kit sets and availability.

Following the release of the prosumer-focused EOS M5 and the intermediate enthusiast EOS M6, it makes sense that the next mirrorless camera from Canon be one for beginners. And that’s just what they’ve announced - the EOS M100.

Offering the ease of use of a smartphone camera with the speed and precision of a DSLR, the EOS M100 comes in three color schemes - Gray, White and Black – and weighs just 302g.  It features a Creative Assist feature that helps put the most common settings for a particular scene at your fingertips. Looking to do some food photography? Creative Assist automatically brings up the color settings like saturation, contrast, and color filters so you can adjust the shot to taste just via a few taps.

HDR Backlight Control mode makes it easy for you to create well-balanced images even when faced with severe back-lighting or extreme contrast. Dual Pixel CMOS AF uses Phase Detect autofocus technology to give you fast and accurate autofocus, essential for tracking moving subjects. The EOS M100 has a maximum continuous shooting speed of 6.1fps with fixed AF and 4.0 fps with servo AF.

In terms of movie functions, the EOS M100 offers up to Full HD resolution capture in 60p, with a Timelapse Movie function that lets you easily compress action over a period of time.
