Enjoy omnidirectional sound with the new Archt One speaker

The Archt One from Archt Audio is an interesting product that offers the promise of an optimal listening experience that isn’t limited by the location of where the speakers are placed. In other words, true room-filling sound.

Using a patented Sound Array technology, the Archt One speaker produces multi-directional audio using three main drivers: a full-range driver for the mids and highs, sub-woofer and a passive radiator for bass. All three drivers are on the same axis, and all fire vertically instead of horizontally, so the audio produced will hit the Sound Array module and be spread across the room in an omnidirectional manner.

Your regular play/pause and volume controls are all on the Sound Array module.

Control of the speaker is via capacitive touch controls on the top of the Sound Array module, or via the Archt One app on your smart device or laptop. The speaker allows for connection via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, direct USB and AUX, and both Airplay and DLNA protocols are supported for optimum wireless streaming in up to 192kHz/24bit quality.

Up to six Archt One speakers can be connected over AirPlay so you can easily share your audio across rooms, and you can of course pair two Archt One speakers (or two groups of speakers) and set it up in your traditional Left-Right stereo pair configuration if you so wish. But the ability to have individual speakers playing different sources will be coming in a later firmware update.

As you can see, all drivers are arranged to fire vertically.

What’s neat though is that the Archt One app allows you to optimize the sound of your speakers based on the space in which it is placed. Tuning it to your environment gives you the best possible experience, and there are also equalizer presets that allow you to further customize the sound to your liking. Overall it does seem that these are a set of speakers that will sound as good as they look, and some of you may find it interesting that the speaker was actually developed in Singapore.CEO Evan Foo is a Singaporean who brought the technology to America for validation and feedback, then further developed and built the speakers via crowdfunding. Singapore will be the Southeast Asian hub for Archt Audio as they look to expand their reach globally.
