Drone gets a sneak peak at Apple's under construction 'Spaceship' campus

The huge spaceship-shaped Apple campus that Steve Jobs envisioned and submitted the plans for just a few months before his death in 2011 is finally taking shape. Apple has been mostly secretive about its status but an enterprising drone pilot has managed to sneak a look at the ongoing construction.

While we've seen images of how 'Campus 2' will look when it's expected to be completed sometime in 2016, this is the first progress we've seen since the groundbreaking less than a year ago.

The footage of the Campus 2 site in Cupertino was captured by a B&H Photo-powered DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ drone, and reveals massive initial earthwork and the beginning concrete foundations of the circular Campus 2 structure making up the center of the site. Construction also seems to have started on two large parking structures south of the central spaceship.

Once completed, the campus will provide over 2.8 million square feet of space and house over 12,000 Apple employees.
