Billed by Dell as an extreme tablet, the Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet is meant for those who need their devices to function in the harshest of conditions. While Dell has released other machines in the Rugged line, the Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet is the first tablet that has released for the line. Like its name suggests, the Rugged line of products are for people who need gadgets that can take a punishment, like the military or emergency medical personnel.

The 11.6-inch tablet will come with a Direct View, outdoor readable touchscreen HD (1366 x 768 pixels) display, which can recognize gloved input. The tablet will be powered by the latest fifth generation Intel Core M processors, run Windows 8.1, can have up to 512GB of storage and can last up to 12 hours. It'll also have 802.11ac Wi-Fi, as well as optional mobile broadband and GPS. Dell seemed to have left out the amount of RAM the tablet has, so we've reached out to them about it and will update this post when they do.

To ensure the tablet lives up to its name and is able to withstand extreme temperatures, the tablet comes with fourth generation QuadCool thermal management, which allows it to function in temperatures as low as -28 degrees Celsius and as high as 62 degrees Celsius. It's also able to survive drops from beyond 1.2 meters.

The Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet is also compatible with a wide array of devices, ranging from various docks to a keyboard. Like the tablet, all the compatible accessories are equally rugged and versatile. The keyboard cover for example, also comes with customizable RGB backlight and IP-65 rating for protection against water and dust.

There's no pricing yet on the the Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet but it'll be available locally from July 28.
