Dell announces Venue 11 Pro 7000 series tablets; sports Intel's Core M Broadwell CPU
Dell announces a new entry in its Venue line, the Venue 11 Pro 7000 series
Updated on 12th November, 10:30AM - Pricing provided by Dell was in US dollars and not Singapore dollars. The news below has been updated to reflect this.
Fun fact: The Dell Venue series of tablets are the only Android tablets that the US Department of Defense approves for use at work by its employees. Originally a line for both smartphones and tablets, the Venue series has been around for awhile. When Dell pulled out of the smartphone business, they dropped the Venue smartphones but kept the tablet line on-going.
The Venue tablets come with either Windows or Android based operating system. The easiest way to tell them apart is simply to look at their designation. If there's a Pro label anywhere on it, it'll be Windows based. If not, it's an Android tablet.
The newest, the Venue 11 Pro Series 7000 is a Windows based tablet. We've listed its specs below, as well as a comparison between it and the previous entry in the Venue 11 series, the Venue 11 Pro 5000.

Compared to the Venue 11 Pro 5000 series, the new 7000 series mainly has better hardware choices than its predecessor with a vastly better processor, more storage and more RAM options. The processor of choice is the brand new Intel Core M series utilizing the Intel Broadwell architecture that's geared for more performance at an even lower power profile than its predecessors. The CPU also boasts a pretty beefy Intel HD Graphics 5300 graphics engine to better cater to modern day computing needs. Apart from an upgrade of the internal components, externally, the physical profile is identical to that of the 5000 series.
What is interesting about the Venue series is its multiple security features. The series has Dell Data Protection Encryption (DDPIE), a built in TPM (Trust Platform Module) and even options for a biometric fingerprint and smart card reader to provide multi-level authentication. If you're a security conscious person, or is working for a company that values its security, a Venue might be the perfect choice. No wonder it is the choice for US Department of Defense!
The new Venue 11 Pro Series 7000 Windows tablets are now available from US$699. No word yet on local availability, but we'll make an update when we come to know of it.
