DBS takes a mobile-first approach to banking with its DBS digibank app

DBS digibank aims to address the growing popularity of mobile banking by making the experience simpler and more intuitive.

DBS has officially launched DBS digibank, a brand new mobile app designed to offer a simpler and more intuitive banking experience to its customers. Mobile banking usage surpassed figures for more traditional Internet banking in 2014, and DBS digibank reflects the bank’s efforts to keep up with the times and stay in tune with its customers.

With the preponderance of banking activity now taking place online, DBS doubled down on creating a best-in-class mobile experience to stand out from the crowd, drawing on feedback from existing active customers. DBS digibank was the result, featuring a streamlined app design and user interface intended to make mobile banking easy and fuss-free.

For instance, iPhone users will be able to use Touch ID to sign-in to their account, although owners of Android smartphones will still need to use their chosen two-factor authentication method to access their accounts. In addition, a new feature called Quicklinks lets you customize a quick access menu of sorts by selecting your most frequently used mobile app services, allowing you to choose from things like transaction history and bill payment.

On top of that, the funds transfer interface has been simplified. Payees are now displayed in a way that is similar to your phone’s contact list, and can be searched, filtered, and sorted according to recent transfers or favorites.

Other notable features include Peek Balance, a slide-to-view function that lets you quickly check your account balance even before logging into the app. Support for this even extends to the Apple Watch, so you can check your account balance even without your phone in hand.

But the best feature of all is perhaps the ability to create an additional account from the app itself, thus doing away with the need to make a trip down to the bank. You can choose to port over personal details and your signature from one of your other accounts, thus making the process even simpler.

DBS digibank is part of an all-in-one banking solution that includes four other digital banking services – iBanking, PayLah! Mobile Wallet, SMS Banking, and eStatements. Furthermore, you’ll only need to register once to access all five services.

The app is now available to download from the Play Store and App Store. A separate app is also available for POSB account holders, but both are essentially the same.
