D-Link launches Wireless-N HomePlug AV router that intelligently taps on home electrical wiring

D-Link has introduced the new DHP-1320 Wireless-N HomePlug AV Router with a wireless speed capability of up to 300Mbps. Along with a HomePlug AV data transmission speed of up to 200Mbps and three Fast Ethernet ports, the DHP- 1320 is specifically designed to provide and extend wireless Internet connection to all corners of the home, simply by tapping on to the existing electrical system.

Dual-mode operation for increased flexibility

Featuring a dual-mode operation, the DHP-1320 can be configured either as router or access point. In router mode, the DHP-1320 is connected to a cable or DSL modem to receive and share broadband Internet connection with multiple computers, game consoles or media players. In access point mode, the DHP-1320 creates a Wi-Fi connection based on the existing network, effectively extending the network to cover the blind spots.

Both modes offer comprehensive security features that prevents unauthorized access to the network, such as AES data encryption for protecting against intruder wire-tapping, WEP, WPA and WPA2 to ensure that data is securely transmitted wirelessly. Dual active firewalls (SPI and NAT) also help to guard against potential attacks originating from the Internet.

Innovative features to conserve power

Equipped with the innovative D-Link Green, the DHP-1320 has environmentally friendly features such as Wi-Fi Scheduling, PLC Power Saving and Power Saving by Link status. Wi-Fi Scheduling allows administrators to configure specific hours to power off the networking to save energy. By monitoring the link status of the devices, DHP-1320 will reduce the power usage of ports that are idle. Similarly, the router will shut down the HomePlug AV function when no Ethernet activity or wireless connection is detected.

Share your storage devices and printers with SharePort

Designed to handle bandwidth intensive applications such as HD video streaming, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls and lag-free online gaming experiences, the DHP-1320 also features Shareport technology. This allows users to connect multifunctional printers to the USB port to share printing and scanning functions within the home. SharePort also supports external hard drives and flash storage for sharing files in the home network.

Price & Availability

The D-Link DHP-1320 Wireless-N HomePlug AV Router will be launched in the third quarter of 2011.
