D-Link DAP-1665 Wireless AC1200 Access Point Offers Wider Coverage In Your Home

The new device supports the wireless AC standard, letting you extend a secure wireless network throughout your home for greater coverage and faster speeds as compared to the previous wireless N standard, so you'll be able to stream music and HD movies with ease.

It also comes with five operation modes for your different networking needs:-

  1. Access Point mode - acts as a central hub for wireless users, giving them access to the home's existing wired network
  2. Wireless Client mode - enables the DAP-1665 to connect to another access point, allowing for network and Internet access to a remote wired device such as a gaming console, or media center
  3. Bridge mode - lets users create high-speed wireless links between two wired networks, eliminating the need for installation of additional cables
  4. Bridge mode with Access Point - adds the functionality of a wireless access point to a bridged network, so wireless clients can access data on both networks
  5. Repeater mode - extends the wireless coverage of the existing network to cover hard-to-reach spots at home

Capable of delivering combined speeds of up to 1200Mbps over its two bands that can be used simultaneously, the 2.4GHz band has speeds of up to 300Mbps and works well for web surfing, email, and chat; the lower-interference 5GHz is ideal for video streaming, file transfers, gaming, and network bridging. With a Gigabit LAN port, the DAP-1520 also supports wired connections at data speeds of up to 1000Mbps.

Security wise, the access point safeguards users with 64/128-bit WEP encryption and WPA/WPA2 security. Besides supporting WPS, it also features MAC address filtering and a disable-SSID broadcast function that limits outsiders' access to one's wireless network, protecting data. On top of that, it houses a Kensington security slot.

The D-Link DAP-1665 Wireless AC1200 Access Point is retailing at S$109.
