It might haven taken awhile, but Wireless-AC is now being embraced by manufacturers. Most new smartphones, tablets and notebooks today all support this new wireless standard, which is capable of offering significantly faster wireless data transfer rates. In fact, the newest routers today offer combined data transfer rates of up to 3200Mbps.

If you have a desktop and you are looking to upgrade, D-Link has just announced its new dual-band DWA-582 AC-1200 PCIe adapter. This new adapter can fit into any PCIe slot and supports data transfer rates of up to 300Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 867Mbps on the 5GHz band. It also offers WPS security for easy setup.

Apart from support for Wireless-AC, the DWA-582 is also backward compatibles with older networking standards - 802.11a/b/g/n. It will be available early next year.
