CyanogenMod Having Domain Name Problems

The CyanogenMod 10 for Android Jelly Bean OS. is no more. All content and services from the open source Android firmware developers will now be available from the website instead.

In a lengthy post from CyanogenMod, they explain that the original domain name was bought and donated by a third party when founder Steve Kondik was just starting out and did not have enough money to purchase the URL himself. Apparently it has been recently found out that the third party owner of has been impersonating Steve to make referral deals with community sites.

When asked to cease and desist along with handing the domain name over amicably, the third party has demanded a payment of US$10,000 which is an amount CyanogenMod is unable to pay. As the matter has devolved the older .com site has been taken down and the new .org has been put up instead of it.
