As Apple is widely expected to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack from the iPhone 7, there are persistent rumors that the company will turn to Lightning or wireless earphones. The latest leak from iPhone7.nl seems to suggest that Apple will be opting for the former - Lightning EarPod earphones.

However, the Lightning EarPod earphones could be easily faked via PhotoShop or manufactured by dubious third-party accessory makers in China. The Lightning connector appears to be thicker than the ones found on the standard charging cables.

Apple is also said to be exploring the use of noise-canceling headphone technology from Wolfson Microelectronics to remove background noise in music playback and phone calls. A more expensive noise-canceling, Lightning-connected earphones or headphones under its Beats brand could be sold separately.
