With the top Android flagship smartphones out of the way now, the rumor mill is focused on Apple's upcoming iPhone. If the latest report turns out to be authentic, Apple's next iPhone may be the thinnest model yet.

According to Unbox Therapy, the side profile of the fifth generation iPod Touch is able to fit perfectly in an alleged iPhone 6 case. In addition, the volume controls on the side of the iPod Touch also match up perfectly with the case.

The two findings seem to suggest that the next iPhone will take some design cues from the iPod Touch such as rounded corners and redesigned buttons. However, a thinner design would mean that the battery will have a smaller footprint. Will battery life be better or worse on a bigger screen iPhone?

Previous leaks and rumors have pointed to a thinner chassis with super thin bezel, two display sizes - 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch -, a 2.6GHz A8 processor, an "Ultra-Retina" display and a 10-megapixel rear camera.
