Cooler Master unveils the MasterBox 5, an affordable case with plenty of customization options
Cooler Master has announced the MasterBox 5, a spacious steel-and-plastic mid-tower case with a ton of customization options for system builders on a budget. The case is styled in typical Cooler Master fashion, with an all-mesh front panel, revealing side window, and plenty of routing holes and covers to make installing your hardware easier and neater.
The case features modular pieces that can be removed or rearranged in order to accommodate larger, higher-end components and custom liquid cooling hardware. For instance, the SSD brackets and HDD bays can be removed entirely or relocated elsewhere in the case. You can even mount them next to the power supply if you wish.
A look at the motherboard tray also reveals a total of six extra-large routing holes to pass your cables through, and there’s space for even E-ATX boards. These routing holes also have mounting options along the front and back, so there’s really a whole lot of flexibility when it comes to hardware placement.
Furthermore, even though this is only a mid-tower case, you can install graphics cards up to 410mm long, which pretty much covers everything out on the market today.
And if you want to go the liquid cooling route, you’ll find room for a 360mm radiator, even if you have two extra-long cards installed.
The MasterBox 5 ships with a 120mm fan pre-installed in the front and rear, but the case also simplifies the fan installation process by making it possible to install fans without removing the front bezel.
Cooler Master is shipping the case in two variants – the standard MasterBox 5 and the MasterBox 5 Dual Tone, a black-and-white case with a solid front panel instead of a mesh one. Both cases are now available locally at S$149.
