First mentioned during Computex 2013, the newest gen of the CM 690 casings retains the iconic sleek curved mesh styling on the front exterior. The interior, however, is completely redesigned to include a new HDD/SDD combo cage that allows for 3.5- or 2.5-inch HDD or SSD deployment in every slot based on the user's needs. The cage can be removed to allow space for other hardware.

Graphics cards up to 423mm in length and tall CPU coolers up to 171mm are supported, while a new EZ-tray ODD system has been implemented for quick installation. Capable of simultaneously supporting two 240mm liquid cooling radiators at the top and front for improved airflow, users also have the option of installing another 120mm radiator in the rear of the chassis. Able to accommodate up to a total of nine fans (KKN1 model; seven fans for the KWN1 model) with as many as three of them being massive 200mm fans, the air and liquid cooling setups can be customized easily.

The CM690 III also features full mesh coverage on the front as well as the top, with plenty of airflow access on the sides and rear, along with multiple dust filters to minimize accumulation of dust.
