Consumer Reports, a nonprofit organization dedicated to unbiased product testing in the U.S,  tested 8 units of the Galaxy S8 (four Galaxy S8 and four Galaxy S8+ units) and shared their findings which include the red-tinted display issue.

Of the 8 phone models, half of them exhibit a reddish tint. Consumer Reports' imaging experts decided to check if the reddish tint would affect day to day usage of the phone by showing the same test photograph on a pair of phones (one with the reddish tint and one without) under different lighting conditions.

Although the imaging experts were able to tell the difference between the two photos on the two displays, the reddish tint seemed to have make the photograph look more appealing and natural.

In line with Samsung's advice, Consumer Reports recommend users to adjust the color balance of the display via Display > Settings > Screen Mode. The Korea Herald reported that Samsung will be rolling out a software update sometime this week for the Galaxy S8 which should fix the reddish tint issue.
