Coming soon: Share your Google Play purchases with your family members or friends

Google has unveiled details about its family library services on Google Play. Currently available in eight countries that include Australia, Japan, the UK and United States, the family library services allow you to share your Google Play purchases with up to five family members. There are some requirements for both family manager and family members.

First off, the family manager must have a Google account that isn’t provided through work or school. There’s also a minimum age requirement as the manager must be 18 years of age or order. For payment, he needs to have a valid credit; the family can share a single payment method for convenience. The term “family members” is loosely used as they don’t have to be members of a traditional household family. From what we gather, your Google Play family members can be your close friends, who own Android devices.

But the family size is restricted as the family manager can only invite up to 5 members. The setting up of the Google Store family can only be done on the manager’s Android device; no access is allowed via iOS devices or other computing devices. However, once the family is set up, the manager is able to administer his family from a browser. The Google Store family library service is a free service; however, as observed by SlashGear, the Google Play Music isn’t available on Google Play family library as family sharing on that is charged at US$14.99 per month.
