CloudUrban Aims to Help Enterprises Leverage on Mobile Devices

Companies can boost results with a good mobile strategy

SINGAPORE - Omnitoons has set up an enterprise arm called CloudUrban to help companies shape and implement strategies for success in an increasingly mobile-centric world.

CloudUrban, though just 6 months old, has already worked on mobile integration projects for large companies such as Canon, GIC and SPH. On Friday 27 May, CloudUrban will showcase the latest mobile applications together with Canon at the Canon Cloud Advantage Show at Marina Bay Sands.

Investment house Morgan Stanley estimates that sales of smartphones will exceed those of PCs in 2012, and by 2013 80% of users will access the web via smartphones.

CloudUrban is initially focusing on the retail and hospitality sectors. It has developed several products specially designed for these markets. These include:

• UrbanPay, which provides retailers a mobile POS (point of sale) system. The flexibility and immediacy of such a system can boost sales.

• UrbanCrew, which gives hotel management an instant channel of communication with staff who are at work in various areas of the hotel.

One service that CloudUrban provides is to integrate mobile devices with companies’ existing back end systems. A major project now underway is the integration of iPhones to a Microsoft SharePoint-based system so that managers have instant and secure access to business intelligence like sales figures and pricing.
