Circle with Disney lets you spy on your kids' internet habits

Spying has never been easier or more innocent looking.

If you're a parent, it's always a worry whenever your kids are online. You can only supervise them by peering over their shoulder for so long before it gets tiresome, for them and you. So then, what's the next best thing a responsible parent should do? Spy on them remotely of course!

That's exactly what the Circle with Disney device is for. Circle for Disney is a cube (yes, we wonder too why it's called a circle) that pairs with your Wi-Fi network and then spies on what data is being sent through it via a technique call ARP Spoofing. The technique is usually associated with hackers, but since Disney's associated with the device, it's safe to say that your data isn't going to be sent into some secret underground server to be sold to the highest bidder...probably. What ARP spoofing does is that it functions like a gateway of sorts. All data to and from your router has to pass through it to get to the devices that are hooked up to the Wi-Fi network.

Optimally, Circle is hooked up to a power supply. However, if your kids turn its power supply off, the device also has a built-in battery that keeps it functioning even without drawing power from an outlet.

Circle with Disney works with its own customized app, which lets parents control what devices can access what content. Want your kids to watch nothing but Youtube but only for an hour a day? Circle With Disney's app has you covered. There's also a filter function, that allows you to assign filters to the devices your kids use, so that they can only access age appropriate content. If you prefer not to be so extreme, the app also allows less obvious methods of spying, with it giving you access to what content devices on your Wi-Fi network are accessing, and for how long.

The Disney name isn't just there for the branding. The machine also has access to tons of curated Disney content, so if you're kids are being punished for spending too much time on Facebook, you can chill them out with a marathon of Disney cartoons.

Sadly, the app only works when you're connected to the Wi-Fi network you're spying on, which means no remote monitoring, though that feature is coming in the future.

The Circle with Disney is already on sale for US$99 and you can get one from its website.
