Check out Trident 3 Arctic, the new VR-ready desktop PC from MSI!
MSI has launched Trident 3 Arctic, its latest VR-Ready desktop PC that is based on the 7th generation Intel Core i7 processor. To be exact, the system is powered by an Intel Core i7-7700 CPU, and supports up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM with its pair of memory DIMM slots. Its graphics processing is handled by the MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming 8GB GDDR5 graphics card. The Trident 3 Arctic boasts of a compact chassis that is only slightly wider than 7cm (71.83mm, without its stand), so it’s safe to assume the GTX 1070 card is custom made to fit into the chassis. The system operates on Windows 10 Home, and ships as either a fully-equipped PC or a barebones system, with a 2.5-inch HDD, and M.2 2280 SSD (only SATA drives are supported).
As a VR-Ready PC, the Trident 3 Arctic includes an HDMI pass-through called VR-Link. This connects to the GPU, and allows you to connect your VR headset to an HDMI port, and there are two of them, front and rear for your convenience. There’s also its RGB Mystic Lighting for different lighting effects, and the chassis is kept cool with Silent Storm Cooling 2 technology. Speaking of keeping things cool, the Intel Core i7-7700 isn’t unlocked, so don’t think of overclocking the system. What’s more, the CPU is paired with the previous gen Intel H110 chipset that doesn’t support CPU overclocking.
We don’t have the pricing details for the updated Trident system, but we assume it will be slightly more expensive than its predecessor, which was based on the 6th generation Intel Core CPUs. The Trident 3 Arctic is probably still the world’s thinnest VR-Ready desktop PC, and it comes in white now.
