Celluon, a Korean company specializing in portable input applications, is at CommunicAsia to showcase its line of projection keyboards (also known as virtual, optical, or laser keyboards). For example, the super-small Epic is the company's latest red laser projection keyboard, and it's capable of projecting a full-size (10 x 24cm) QWERTY keyboard. Pairing is done via Bluetooth wireless technology, and it's compatible with iOS, Android, BlackBerry, PC, and Mac platforms. The built-in battery lasts for about two hours, and charging is done via USB. The Epic also doubles as a multi-touch mouse, as it's able to track the movements of your fingers. So you can do things like scrolling and pinch to zoom. Other features include a 19mm key pitch and a recognition rate of 350 characters per minute.

The Epic has a retail price of US$169, but Celluon is selling it at US$110 at CommunicAsia.

The Epic laser keyboard works on most opaque, flat surfaces. We did a quick hands-on, and found tracking to be surprisingly smooth.

If you're using an iPhone, the US$199 Prodigy is a case with a built-in projection keyboard. It also acts as an extended battery (2,200mAh) and kickstand for the phone.
