Adding on to their compact digital camera line-up, Canon announced three new PowerShot digital cameras earlier this week at CES. These new affordable range of compact cameras will give users built-in wireless functionality as well as 30% longer battery life with its ECO Mode. Joining the line-up are two cameras in the A series, the A2600 and A1400 and one in the ELPH (or IXUS if it reaches this part of the world) series, the ELPH 130 IS.
The wireless functionality built into the PowerShot ELPH 130 IS completes the range of these ultra-compact cameras with wireless support. With wireless connectivity, the ELPH 130 IS would be able to link with the free Canon CameraWindow app on either Android or iOS devices. Uploads to social networking sites using Canon's iMAGE GATEWAY would also be a breeze.
In addition to connectivity, the ELPH 130 IS features an 8x optical zoom with a 28mm wide-angle lens and 16-megapixel sensor. At the heart of the camera is a DIGIC 4 processor and it comes equipped with a 3-inch LCD screen.
Like most cameras of this variety, the ELPH 130 IS will be available in a variety of colors including red, grey and silver. It will be available in February in the US for an estimated retail price of US$199.99.
The new PowerShot A2600 is a 16-megapixel sensor digital camera that comes equipped with a 5x optical zoom 28mm wide-angle lens. It comes with the Smart AUTO feature which automatically recognizes and chooses the best settings for 32 common shooting scenarios. Movie recording is basic on this camera as it only records 720p HD video through a dedicated movie button. In addition, the PowerShot A2600 also features Digital IS which reduces the effect of camera shake and subject movement. The PowerShot A2600 digital camera is scheduled to be available in February in the US. There are five color options available (black, silver, red, blue and pink) and will retail at an estimated retail price of US$149.99.
The new PowerShot A1400 digital camera comes with an optical viewfinder and 16-megapixel sensor with a DIGIC 4 Processor. It uses a 28mm wide-angle lens with 5x optical zoom. As a casual device, it is powered by two AA batteries, allowing for easy replacement. It also features Digital IS that reduces image blur due to camera shake. Besides that, there are also fun scene modes such as fisheye effect, toy camera effect and monochrome that lets users get creative. Similar to the rest in the line-up, the PowerShot A1400 digital camera is scheduled to be available in the US in February for an estimated retail price of US$109.99.
