Canon Singapore announces the Canon iMAGE Gateway (CiG).
A free online management service, the CiG comes with functions which enable easier sharing of high quality images and videos, promoting interactivity. With 10GB of free storage space per user account, users can store about 3000 to 5000 A4-sized photos at resolutions of about six to 10 megapixels each.
Users can create albums from their library of photos and videos, and print these photos using print solutions linked to Canon printers. CiG supports videos in MP4, with a limit of 10 minutes per video. Capable of displaying technical data about a photo, including (but not limited to) the camera model, lens, exposure, the CiG allows for searching of photos by camera settings, like finding a photo shot at ISO 200. Also, if the camera used includes an in-built GPS feature, information on where and when the photo was taken can also be made available.
CiG is available free of charge to users of selected Canon digital compact cameras, DSLRs, and digital video cameras here. Singapore will be the first within SEA to gain access to the CiG.

Singapore – Canon Singapore has launched a free online photo management service, the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY (CiG), with functions that enable easier sharing of high quality images and videos, and promote interactivity. Singapore will be the first within Southeast Asia to gain access to this.
Each CiG user is entitled to 10GB of free storage space per account, which is much more compared to those by most providers in the market. This 10GB space allows users to store approximately 3,000 to 5,000 A4-sized photos at a resolution of 6 to10 megapixels each, or 6 to 24 hours of video at 1 to 4Mbps each in the storage library.
Users can also create albums from his library of photos and videos for effective sharing with his family and friends. They can also print these photos directly using print solutions linked to Canon printers.
Users can choose to upload the original resolution of their JPEG-format photos to the CiG, allowing users to retain the high quality of their images. Videos in MP4 format are also supported, with a limit of 10 minutes per video.
The settings in CiG can be made to display technical information about a photo, including the camera model, lens and exposure settings such as ISO, aperture and shutter speed. This allows other viewers approved by users to see the information and possibly learn from it. If the camera used includes an in-built GPS feature, information on where and when the photo was taken can also be made available. The CiG also allows users to search their photos by camera settings, for example, finding all photos shot at ISO 200, or photos shot at 1/1250 shutter speed and more.
Users who own iOS devices (from iOS 4.3 / 5.1 onwards) will be able to make full use of the CiG’s simple interface anywhere and anytime to easily manage their photo library and share high quality images in photo albums over email, Facebook or Twitter. Owners of Canon cameras or camcorders with built-in WiFi** will be able to share their photos through email or on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube directly from their Canon product* via the CiG platform. Alternatively, they can transfer photos and videos to their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, and share them immediately via email or social network services aforementioned.
Visitors to the shared photo albums will be able to post their comments to the pictures, and with the user’s permission, add images to the album. Viewers of the album need not have a CiG account or own a Canon product. In addition, users can also configure the settings to allow others to download or print his photos. In summary, a host of options is available in the privacy settings for the user to determine the extent he wants to share his photos and videos, and with whom.
