Long zoom compact cameras get a new friend to contend with, and it’s none other than the Canon PowerShot SX620 HS. It still uses the same DIGIC 4+ image processor, which lets the camera capture 20.2 megapixels resolution images, and shoot movies in Full HD resolution at a 29.97 frames per second.

The Canon PowerShot SX620 HS also comes with Wi-Fi connectivity, and it’s easier to upload photos and videos online since they incorporated a new Wi-Fi button on the body of the camera. The button lets the user activate Wi-Fi while in any camera mode. The PowerShot SX620 HS also supports phone pairing via NFC.

Canon EF-M28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM lens for EOS M series cameras

Canon EF-M28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM

Canon new EF-M lens is a 28mm Macro lens that expands their existing lens selection of the EOS M mirrorless compact cameras. The EF-M28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM has built-in Macro Lite, a feature that plays nicely with a range of light settings, allowing the user to try different depths and dimensions in macro photography. Macro Lite lets the user illuminate small subjects without casting any shadows, making it suitable for food photography and product shots for their personal online stores.

The EF-M28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM shoots small subjects at 1:1 life-size magnification. It is also one of the first autofocus lens capable of focusing at infinity during normal shooting, and 1.2 times magnification in macro photography. If the user employs the Super Macro mode, the lens lets them shoot subjects up close – with a minimum distance of 13mm from the front of the lens. Within the EF-M28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM’s optics is a UD (ultra-low dispersion) lens and two aspherical lenses – one of which is double-sided – making the lens effective at correcting color fringing and other types of aberrations.

The lens itself is 130g and 45.5mm when retracted.

The price and availability of the Canon EF-M28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM lens will be revealed at a later date.

The new Speedlite 600EX II-RT flash attachment by Canon is designed for professional photographers. New features include a battery charge level indicator, found on the display panel unit. Users of the new Speedlite 600EX II-RT will find that Canon improved the flash-readiness of both master and slave units by making them easily recognizable when shooting in radio-transmission wireless mode. Canon also improved the mode selection on the Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT to prevent accidental mode changes during a shoot.

The new flash unit comes bundled with a SBA-E3 bounce adaptor and a set of SCF-E3 color filters. The bounce adaptor helps to suppress shadows around the subject when a photographer is shooting with the bounce flash technique, and the color filters can compensate for bluish flash illumination.

The price and availability of Canon’s Speedlite 600EX II-RT will be revealed at a later date.
