Canon Announces Launch of EF-M 55-200 f/4.5-6.2 IS STM Telephoto Zoom Lens (Updated)

EOS M users now have a telephoto zoom lens to add to their collection – the EF-M 55-200 f/4.5-6.2 IS STM, which has been built specifically to match the compact EOS M range. Measuring just 86.5mm and weighing just 260g (approximately), this is one lens that offers great image quality without compromising on quality.

A 7-blade circular aperture design produces distinct circular bokeh, perfect for portrait photography where a soft focus effect is desired. Aspherical and UD lenses within the lens body help correct against Chromatic Aberration, while the built-in Image Stabiliser (IS) unit automatically selects an appropriate IS mode to counter camera shake based on the movement of the lens thus helping to achieve and equivalent gain of using a shutter speed 3.5 stops faster.

For those who love to record videos will be pleased to note that the EF-M 55-200 f/4.5-6.2 IS STM has been built with video in mind, with the inclusion of a lead screw type step ping motor (STM) drive that allows for silent and smooth autofocus and a rear focus system that intelligently tracks your subjects.

Update: The EF-M55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM will be available in early July 2014 at all authorized dealers at the RRP of S$499.
