Canon announces Accidental Damage Protection coverage in Singapore

Following the release of their Asia Traveller Protection Program, Canon has now announced the launch of its new Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) option in Singapore, a value-added service that covers a wide range of Canon’s cameras, lenses, video camcorders, and SELPHY compact printers in various situations for accidental damage.

“For customers who use their cameras products and video recorders regularly and in varied situations, the frequent usage and exposure presents an inherent risk of accidental damage. With the introduction of ADP, we aim to enhance the Canon consumer experience by offering a service beyond the product and peace of mind.” says Edwin Teoh, Assistant Director, Consumer Business Marketing, Canon Singapore.

What ADP provides is basically repair services or a one-time replacement for accidental damage during the first year of original warranty. It covers damage to the equipment from accidental collision impact, or contact with liquid or sand that compromises operating functions. ADP is packaged with Canon’s existing Warranty Plus program, which offers two years of extended warranty for cameras, Selphy compact printers and video products.

The new Warranty Plus with ADP is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, is non-transferrable, and can only be used by the customer who made the initial purchase. For the moment, it also appears that the service is only for Canon Singapore, so we’ll wait to see if this subsequently gets rolled out to other countries and update you appropriately.

Check here for a list of products that can covered by Warranty Plus (as well as the duration and cost of coverage).
