Canon Announces 200-400mm f/4L Telephoto Lens with Built-in 1.4x Extender

Canon is announcing an EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM lens with a built-in 1.4x extender, by flicking a lever the lens converts to a 280-560mm f/5.6 lens. The new lens incorporates a new optical design which makes use of a fluorite lens and four ultra-low dispersion lens elements to correct color aberrations across the entire zoom range. It also comes with Power Focus for movie shooting, and a IS 'mode 3' that only applies stabilization at the point of exposure. The 200-400mm lens is weathersealed and can apply image stabilization for up to 4 stops, it has a minimum focusing distance of 2m.

The EF200-400MM F4L IS USM Extender 1.4X lens will be available end May, with a recommended retail price of S$16,599.
