In a first for Singapore mobile users, customers can now select and purchase tickets for SISTIC-managed events and movies at Cathay Cineplexes through one application
Singapore’s leading electronic payments provider, NETS, today announced that it has launched a one-stop ticketing application on its popular iNETS Mobile channel, allowing customers to select and purchase tickets for SISTIC events and movies at Cathay Cineplexes over their mobile phones for the first time in Singapore.
NETS Chief Executive Officer, Ms Poh Mui Hoon, said, “Singaporeans have really embraced mobile services in a big way. The growing popularity of smartphones with their Internet access capabilities means consumers are increasingly using their mobile phones to organise their lives – whether it’s checking emails, web browsing for comparison shopping or paying their bills.
“The new ticketing application on iNETS Mobile allows mobile users to do even more with their phones as it gives them 24/7 access to SISTIC events and Cathay movies whenever they want and wherever they are. And given that there are on average four mobile users to one internet user today, we believe the iNETS Mobile ticketing application will be very popular with Singaporeans given the service’s ease of use, convenience and security,” added Ms Poh.

According to Cathay Cineplexes, online sales have grown tremendously over the past few years, registering a 10 percent growth year-on-year on average compared with its other booking channels (walk-in and phone).
SISTIC Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kenneth Tan, said, "This initiative to offer our booking engine via web-services to iNETS' new mobile ticketing services is the first of SISTIC's various forays into the world of mobile services. It will provide greater convenience to ticket buyers and better market exposure for show promoters' events. With the growing popularity of smart phones and affordable data plans, our R&D program is aligned to create a holistic mobile ticketing platform where more service providers such as NETS can tap on and provide ticketing services to their customers.”
From 9 September 2010, consumers will be able to select and book their seats for all movies at Cathay Cineplexes’ 41 screens and 8,072 seats as well as book tickets to selected SISTIC-managed events through the enhanced iNETS Mobile application, a first for Singapore mobile users.
The iNETS Mobile application is available on major smartphone platforms including iPhone, Symbian, Java, Blackberry and Android. iPhone users can access the Apple Apps store and search for the iNETS Mobile application to download onto their phones. Non-iPhone users can download the iNETS Mobile application onto their handset by sms-ing “MOBILE” to 76387.
