BlackBerry Classic launches in Singapore

BlackBerry officially launched the BlackBerry Classic smartphone in Singapore today. As the name suggests, the Classic is a return to older BlackBerry models like the BlackBerry Bold 9900, and sports BlackBerry's signature QWERTY physical keyboard and physical navigation keys. The Classic is larger than the old BlackBerry Bold, but significantly smaller than the Passport, which BlackBerry launched earlier this year.

The Classic next to the older Bold 9900. The Classic has a 60% larger screen, and a straight keyboard.

The Classic has a square, 720 x 720 pixel, 3.5-inch touchscreen perched above the keyboard and navigation keys. Oddly enough, the phone's processor seems to be a 'classic' too, as it is powered by a 2012 dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon processor with 2GB RAM. The phone also has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera.

The Classic runs BlackBerry 10, which offers productivity tools like the Hub, Assistant, and Blend. It also can run Android apps, which are accessible through the Amazon Appstore, which will be pre-loaded on the device.

The BlackBerry Classic will be available today from all three telcos for $598.
