After announcing a US$518 million operating loss last quarter and job cuts for 5000 planned, some good news at last for the beleaguered Research in Motion as they have just announced that the Blackberry App World has just served up its three billionth download.
Further breakdown reveals that Blackberry users are downloading apps at a rate of about six million per day. Other interesting statistics include 768 days to get to its first billionth download, another 210 days to get to two billion and an additional 176 days to get to today's milestone.
While this is cause for celebration, these numbers dwarf in comparison to its competitors Apple and Google. Apple's iTunes App Store and Google's Play Store recently reported surpassing 30 billion and 20 billion downloads respectively.
