BlackBerry announced on Friday that it is planning to acquire rival company, Good Technology for US$425 million in cash.

Through this acquisition, BlackBerry hopes to boost its services to help enterprise customers manage mobile devices running on different platforms as Good Technology is well-known for its strong suite of device management software on Android and more than half the devices running on its systems are Apple products such as the iPhone.

Taking into account that BlackBerry is likely to unveil Android-powered device(s) later this year and is already working with Google on an Android enterprise mobility partnership, the acquisition is a no-brainer. The deal is expected to close by end November and BlackBerry is confident that it can gain US$160 million revenue in the first year.

Past relations between the two companies were unfriendly; they settled several patent lawsuits in 2004 and BlackBerry recently slammed Good Technology's mobility solution in January 2015. Well, it now seems that both companies are ready to put that behind them and move on.
