Biostar announces Hi-Fi B85Z5 motherboard

Biostar has revealed the Hi-Fi B85Z5 motherboard. The most striking visual feature of the board is the MOSFET heatsink that has been shaped to resemble a piano’s keyboard. The company’s effort is not lost to the keen observer as it positions the board as one with high-quality onboard audio.

The board supports Biostar's proprietary "Puro Hi-Fi Technology", which sports an integrated independent audio power design with a built-in amplifier. The technology utilizes audio components with an independent power design for a decent reduction in electronic noise. The unique noise-blocking multi-layer PCB layout is ideal for exceptional clarity and high fidelity sound. With a sampling rate of 192kHz/24-bit, the motherboard is able to deliver high quality audio via an analog connection to your home theater system, multi-channel speakers and high-end headphones.

In addition, the onboard system has been enhanced with the new “Double Hi-Fi” feature. It makes use of an embedded “Double Hi-Fi” AMP IC to ensure the same high-quality sound is delivered whether audio output is drawn from the front (via its front audio header) or rear ports. Since this board is based on the previous generation Intel B85 chipset, it’s still unclear if it will support the upcoming desktop Intel Broadwell chips, despite the presence of its LGA1150 CPU socket. But for those on a tight budget, while seeking high-quality onboard audio for their PC build, they may consider this US$89, Intel 8-series board.
