BIOS Dead in Three Years?

Will we see the end of the BIOS in the next few years? According to an anonymous MSI spokesperson, MSI is planning to ditch the BIOS and adopt UEFI by the end of this year, starting with its Sandy Bridge motherboards. It could be the start of such a shift by other vendors and while it has no doubt played a big part for enthusiasts, it has been something that the average user is unfamiliar with.

THINQ.co.uk - It's the one major part of the PC that's still reminiscent of the PC's primordial, text-based beginnings, but the familiarly-clunky BIOS could soon be on its deathbed, according to MSI. The motherboard maker says it's now making a big shift towards point and click UEFI systems, and it's all going to kick off at the end of this year.
