BenQ's MW665+ and MX666+ projectors use NFC to reduce wireless presentation setup headaches

The BenQ MX666+ makes use of NFC to make wireless projection setup a breeze.

BenQ, which is well known for its DLP projectors, have launched a couple of business projectors that play nice with the current BYOD (bring your own device) trend in the workplace. Called the MW665+ and MX666+, the headline feature is their ‘tapNshow’ wireless presentation solution. In a nutshell, it combines NFC technology with BenQ’s own presentation apps to make wireless business presentation from Android smart devices a fuss-free affair.

Now, there are a few ways to do a wireless projection from the MW665+ and MX666+. One is the aforementioned tapNshow solution, which requires the Quick Wireless NFC Kit that comes with the projectors. Simply connect the NFC dongle to the projector and tap it with your NFC-enabled smart device to download the connection and presentation apps. After which, tap the dongle again to begin presenting. If the projector is mounted on the ceiling, you can tap on the included NFC card or sticker instead.

Another way to do a wireless presentation is to use the Quick USB dongle that comes with the Quick Wireless NFC Kit, and which you plug into your notebook’s USB port. This setup frees you from the need to connect a video cable between your notebook and the projector.

Other features of the MW665+ (3,200 lumens, WXGA resolution) and MX666+ (3,500 lumens, XGA resolution) include versatile image correction (2D keystone trapezoid distortion correction, support for side projection support and Corner Fit for projection on restricted or uneven space), and a high native contrast with lifelike colors produced by a six-segment color wheel (RGBCMY). The projectors’ color management system also allows you to independently fine-tune the hue, grain, and saturation levels of the six colors.

To bring the tapNshow experience to other projectors, BenQ is also selling a VGA Wireless Dongle-QPro dongle and a Qcast dongle. The former turns any BenQ VGA-cabled projector into a wireless projector, and it will work even if your mobile device doesn’t support NFC. The latter’s main job is to let you easily stream multimedia content onto the big screen.
