AVerMedia launches Aegis - the dedicated gaming microphone

Aegis Gaming Microphone.

AVerMedia Technology’s dedicated gaming microphone is a solution for gamers who need a way to communicate with teammates, without compromising on their great audio experience from their existing speaker setup.

Called the Aegis Gaming Microphone, this standalone gaming microphone offers sound suppression technology to keep in-game communications clear and uninterrupted by noise. It uses Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to suppress background sounds from your speakers, while it focuses on picking up, and transmitting the user’s voice. You can toggle DSP on or off via a hard switch on the back of the palm-sized device.

Using DSP, the dedicated microphone can eliminate background noise from speakers while emphasizing on the user's in-game communication.

The Aegis Gaming Microphone also comes with a tactile volume knob that is centered on the shield-shaped gadget (hence its name). The placement of the knob allows the user to make swift adjustments without taking their eyes off the monitor. A large Mute Microphone button on its right makes it easy to cut your voice off if you need to attend to any distractions outside of your game.

The dedicated gaming microphone uses a USB 2.0 port for its audio and power, and it comes with its own fabric jacketed USB cable. It uses two high sensitivity unidirectional condenser microphones for voice communication, which is further refined via AVerMedia’s proprietary audio technology algorithm.

Here are the other key specifications of the Aegis Gaming Microphone:

  • Frequency Response: 50 - 20,000 Hz
  • Max volume Level: 110 db SPL
  • Mic Sensitivity: -37 db
  • Dimensions (W x H x D): 103.2 x 103 x 39.2mm
  • Weight: 130 g

The Aegis Gaming Microphone will be available come 18th April 2016 at a suggested retail price of S$140, and it can be found at popular electronic stores found in SLS, such as Fuwell, Cybermind, Best Price Computers, and Videopro, as well as online retailer Lazada.
