Atlona Releases HDMI to Mini DisplayPort Converter/Scaler for Home Theaters Everywhere

By Joy Hou - on 6 Dec 2010, 9:56am

The perfect accessory for Mac users looking to play video games or watch Blue-Ray movies

Atlona Technologies was first to offer relief to the group of frustrated Apple users seeking to use the newest Apple Cinema Displays with their now legacy DVI based Mac products. With this, the DP200 quickly became one of Atlona’s most popular products ever sold. Soon after, the company sets it sights on bridging the DVI to MDP gap with a product designed to convert dual link DVI video signals to Mini DisplayPort, the DP400. Now, Atlona is proud to release their newest Mini DisplayPort adapter (converter and scaler), the AT-DP300. The DP300 takes HDMI sources like the Xbox360s, PS3s, Cable or Satellite Receivers, & Blu-Ray Players and converts and scales the signal to Mini DisplayPort for use with the new Apple Cinema Displays such as Apple 24-inch, Apple 27-inch LED and Apple 27-inch iMac.

Mini DisplayPort is quickly becoming a common standard due to its open nature. Apple was among the first to adopt this connector but they are not alone. Dell, Collins America, Acer, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Phillips, NEC, and Pioneer all have announced support for the format. The DP300 is specifically designed to work with Apple’s iMac 27-inch and both 24 and 27-inch LED displays which have MDP input, with resolutions up to 1920x1200 on the 24-inch models and 720p on others. “This product will help save innumerable amounts of money for users looking to avoid upgrading their entire computer, based simply on a video incompatibility issue,” - Kevin Billingsley, Atlona Director of Sales.

This unit has the ability to display standard signal at resolutions as high as 1080p, allowing optimal viewing experiences for Mac users looking to play video games or watch Blue-Ray movies on their 24-inch displays. With this unit’s new design and compact frame, it will easily find its home in the company of other Mac and Mini DisplayPort products just in time for the holiday season.

Atlona’s DP300 is available now with an MSRP of $149.00.
