ASUS updates ROG line of gaming laptops with NVIDIA’s latest 10-series GPUs

NVIDIA only just took the wraps off its new 10-series Pascal mobile GPUs, but manufacturers are already waiting in the wings to unveil updates to their respective notebook line-ups. ASUS has now announced that it is updating its ROG GX800, G752, and Strix GL502 notebooks with the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10-series mobile graphics cards, bringing them in line with Aftershock’s own overhaul of its gaming laptops.

The 18.4-inch ROG GX800 is the successor to the deliciously extravagant GX700, and it comes with new features like a mechanical keyboard, a 3,840 x 2,160-pixel IPS G-Sync display (the GX700 only came with a 1080p panel), and yes, two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 mobile GPUs in SLI.

Then there is the 17.3-inch ROG G752VS, a more modest laptop – though this isn’t saying a lot when you’re comparing it to the GX800 – that still packs plenty of power. It features an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card that reportedly offers up to 80 per cent better performance than its predecessor.

The G752VS can be equipped with an overclockable sixth-generation Intel Core i7 processor – presumably the Core i7-6820HK – and up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM. It also boasts a 120Hz G-Sync display that will go well with the higher frame rates that the GeForce GTX 1070 can push out.

A different model, the G752VM, includes a GeForce GTX 1060 instead, which supposedly offers up to a 30 per cent improvement over previous generation cards.

Finally, the Strix GL502 also gets the Pascal treatment and will be available in two variants as well. The GL502VS is the more powerful of the two and is equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 card, while the GL502VM will feature a GeForce GTX 1060 instead.

ASUS ROG Strix GL502

The 15-inch Strix GL502 laptops are intended to be relatively portable and lightweight machines, but you’ll still get a sixth-generation Intel Core i7 processor as well.

Pricing, availability, and more detailed specifications are to be announced at a later date.
