ASUS Unveils New Gaming Platform of Formula Motherboard and Poseidon Graphics

At the ASUS Republic of Gamers event, the company showed off its new gaming platform that is based on its new Intel Z87 Maximus VI Formula motherboard, coupled with the new Poseidon graphics card.

The concept gaming platform at the event consisted of the Maximus VI Formula board and the Poseidon graphics card. They were both liquid-cooled and housed in what resembled a red roll cage of a stock racing car.

Besides supporting the latest 4th-generation Intel 'Haswell' processor, the ASUS Maximus VI Formula can be fitted with front ROG armor while its PCB rear can be mounted with a SECC plate with thermal padding.

The Maximus VI Formula board also boasts of a bundled mPCIe Combo II with wireless 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity. The add-on card also supports both mSATA and M.2 interfaces for current and NGFF SSDs. The board also features the updated Extreme Engine Digi+ III VRM system for stable power delivery through its Blackwing chokes, NexFET MOSFETs and Black Metallic caps.

When the Poseidon graphics card is in production, it will feature an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 700 series GPU.

The Poseidon features the hybrid DirectCU H20 water cooling system that allows for both air and liquid cooling system. For air-cooling, the card sports a CoolTech fan; while its pair of G1/4 universal fittings will fit most liquid-cooling systems. This unique gaming platform will definitely appeal to hardcore gamers and D-I-Y PC builders.
