ASUS Unveils Fonepad 7 and 8, Come with 64-Bit Intel Atom Processors

ASUS today announced at Computex 2014 two new members to the Fonepad family, the Fonepad 7 and Fonepad 8. Like the new MeMO Pad series, both Fonepad devices are powered by the 64-bit Intel Atom processors.

One of the key highlights of the Fonepad series is the narrow bezel design. The Fonepad 7 is just 10.9cm wide, making it easy to use in one hand. Honestly, it isn't very thin to begin with since the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (7.0) measures just 10.79cm in width.

It is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3560 quad-core 1.8GHz processor and has a 7-inch display HD (1,280 x 800 pixels) display. It has dual-SIM card slots for full phone functionality and supports 3G connectivity.

The Fonepad 8 features a 72.2% screen-to-body ratio for a larger display area, which makes it have the same width as last year's Fonepad 7. Aside from the differences in display sizes, the Fonepad 8 has the same specs as the Fonepad 7. Both devices also have the ASUS SonicMaster audio with dual front-facing speakers, 5-megapixel rear cameras and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras.

At time of publication, there is no information on the availability and pricing of both models.
