For those who are holding out for a 3G version of the Google Nexus 7, your patience may pay off as a very well-placed insider source of MoDaCo claims that ASUS is indeed making one.

According to MoDoCao, ASUS is increasing production of the Google Nexus 7 (3G) in preparation for a launch in about 6 weeks. The source also alleged that there will be no hardware changes. The exact launch date and availability are yet to be confirmed at the moment.

The Google Nexus 7 garnered our Editor's Choice Award for its very attractive price point, superb overall performance, great design and excellent handling. One of its drawbacks is the lack of mobile data connectivity. If the rumor turns out to be true, the Nexus 7 will be a even more compelling choice for consumers.
